Things I have discovered in Dickinson...

There are many things that I have discovered in Dickinson, so I thought I would share some of them!!
~ You can not go through 2 stop lights without hitting a red one.
~ Mcdonalds drive through is not the place to go for lunch, 30 minutes later, you can eat!!
~You can not drive to work without seeing men in orange that are going to hunt
~You can go from your home to any place in town in just 5 minutes
~The stop lights start blinking at 7pm and don't turn back on until 7:30am
~Everybody know everybody
~There are just as many cops driving around as people
~Most people go to Bismarck to shop
~There is no Starbucks
~People don't ever know what you mean when you ask if there is a dog park

I am sure i will learn much more as we get settled here, but these are just a few that stick out in my mind!!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN Everyone!!!

The weekend went way too fast. I wonder why the week goes so slow and the weekend goes so fast!! Dan's buddy Steve Best and another friend Aaron came to Bismarck to go hunting this weekend. Aaron won a guided pheasant hunt and invited Dan to go with. They left early Saturday morning after a LONG night of partying!! They hunted most of the day with little success, but had a great time with the dogs. While the great white hunters were out, I was able to get me hair cut and do some much needed retail therapy!! Saturday night, I went to a movie with Sunne while the boys watched the hockey game!! Sunday was a day of clean up for us, it is so hard to keep a house looking good when you live out of a suitcase all the time!! After cleaning, we went in to find our Halloween costumes! Dan wanted to make his costume this year, but we just ran out of time. So Dan will be a priest and I will be a nun!! We plan to stay in Dickinson for Friday night just due to Dan having to work on Saturday morning. I will go back to Bismarck Saturday morning!! I will post pictures of up in our costumes!!

Birthday excitement!!

First of all, thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!! I had a great birthday. I went to supper with my parents and Dan on Tuesday night and then to mom and dad's house for homemade carrot cake. The day of my birthday, I went to a conference in Bismarck and out to eat for lunch with 2 of my co-workers from Dickinson. That evening Dan and I went to an authentic Mexican place here in Dickinson. I had a great couple of days!!
We also want to congratulate Dan's brother, Charles. He and Sara are engaged and are planning a wedding for next fall!!
Dan and I are doing well. We have been busy this week. Dan spent 2 days in Bismarck at state meetings for the Guards, and I spent a day there for a conference.
We listed our house with a Realtor, so pray that it goes!! We listed with a family friend that has been my parent's neighbor for years, so it was an easy thing to hand over my key to the house. We are just working out the details here is Dickinson. We have put money down on the house here and just need to do the bank work. The family just let us know that we are welcome to do some work to the house starting Nov. 1st. We just have a few projects that we would like to do, such as taking wall paper down and painting in the kitchen and bedrooms. I am very excited to make the house our home!!
This weekend I plan to work on the house in Lincoln. We need to de-clutter and move some things out of the house to make it more spacious. Dan is going pheasant hunting on Saturday with some buddies and then Sunday he is going with my dad. It is really great that Dan takes the time to go hunting with my dad, it really means a lot to him and it allows him to have some time just to himself.
That's all for now!

I thought you would all like to see my great white hunter!! Dan took Trigger out hunting this weekend with Steve Best and his yellow lab, Ruby. They had a blast!! Trigger was so tired from all the exercise, he crashed on saturday night! The boys planned on going hunting on Sunday also, but it was pouring out most of the day.

On Saturday, Dad and I had wedding pictures. I love working with dad, we just have a way of doing things together and know what each other are thinking. We have a blast doing the pictures! We will be shooting another one this weekend and our last wedding of the season is in November.

Dan is super busy with work. He is really working hard!! The only bad thing about have so many recruites is all the night that he will be in Fargo. Although, I think he enjoys the time with just the boys!!
I am getting busy at work. Cases seem to be popping up all over. it is truely sad that so many families are struggling and are not able to really care for their children. I just have to keep remembering that I can only do so much for them before they have to help themselves.

Busy!

Dan and I are enjoying the time we get to spend together during the week. We are finally getting our schedules to work together! We had Mattie down in Dickinson for a week and decided that it just was not going to work. We do not have grass around our apartment, so everytime she would have to go to the bathroom, we would get in the car and drive to a park. It was just too crazy for us, so my mom and dad stepped up and said that they would keep her until we move into our house here. Thanks a bunch to them!!
We have not sold our house yet in Lincoln. The market is terrible right now so we are just being patient. We plan on listing it with a Realtor within the next week or so. It is just too much to do everything on our own.
My job is going well. I am adjusting to the work and really enjoy the schools. I am in 2 elementary schools, so there is never a dull moment!! Some of the things that come out of their mouths you wonder where they have been in their life!! I have great supervision here and feel very supported. They have been working with me to prioritize the demands that I have.
Dan is doing great with recruiting. The new year for them just began on October 1st. He has had several appointments and a lot of interested kids. Dan is very good at what he does, but if anyone knows Dan, he can sell shit on a shingle!! He has the personality for the job that he is doing. I think we have both found a great fit in careers.
I hope everyone is doing well and stay in touch!!

Nashville

Last week I made the trip to Nashville for Laura's wedding. It was such a blast. I flew in on Thursday and we hit the ground running. I was able to go shopping with Laura for some last minute things. Laura made arrangements for me to stay with one of the other band members and his wife (Angie & Brian). They were great and really made me feel at home!! Friday was rehearsal and the groom's dinner. All the girls went to Laura's and made the bouquets for the bridesmaids and a swag that went on the arch for the wedding. We had so much fun!! Saturday was wedding day. It was a gorgeous day, the wind was calm and it was about 80. The wedding was at an old mansion in the hills. It was beautiful!! Laura was such a beautiful bride and Cain cleaned up nice, too!! It was such a great time!! I wish I could have stayed longer, but I will go back to visit!! Maybe the next time I will take Dan!!!
